Loretta Poston is a Principal member at Legal Lion Employment Law Firm, PLLC. Ms. Poston has focused her career around the legal issues that arise from the government employer/employee relationship, including issues related to workplace safety, whistleblower disclosures, adverse employment actions, disability leave laws, workplace harassment, employee discrimination, and prohibited personnel practices. Ms. Poston is a dedicated attorney who believes in giving her clients a voice and fighting for a fair, transparent, and safe government workplace for employees.
Ms. Poston practices federal employment law, healthcare fraud, and she has worked extensively in matters involving national labor unions, the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act (WPEA), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Special Counsel (OSC), Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), Disciplinary Appeals Boards (DAB)for Title 38 Employees, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Working with government employees in various agencies including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DOD), Social Security Administration (SSA), General Services Administration (GSA) and National Park Service (NPS).
Ms. Poston has extensive experience in working with Medical professionals who work at federal agencies such as the Veterans Health Administration under Title 38 of the United States Code – as well as hybrid and Title 5 employees.
Ms. Poston uses the protections afforded whistleblowers to prevent employers from wrongfully terminating federal employees. Ms. Poston has worked with whistleblowers and the OSC in requesting a “stay” with the MSPB to delay the government agency’s personnel action during the OSC’s investigation of whistleblower reprisal.
Early in Ms. Poston's law career, she interned for Judge Catherine Peek McEwen of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Middle District of Florida and was the Project Manager of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association’s Pro Se Pro Bono Clinic.
Ms. Poston graduated from Western Michigan University Thomas Cooley Law School, where she was Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board, member of Phi Delta Phi – International Legal Honor Society. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science, in Business Management, from the University of Phoenix. She also attended the University of South Florida and the United States Air Force Academy.
Ms. Poston also has over 12 years of experience in private sector telecommunications field working for Verizon Communications, Inc. Gaining her experience in negotiating, interpreting, and enforcing different aspects of the company’s work requirements in conjunction with the local labor union’s contract with the company, while staying in compliance with state and federal law. Intimately working with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and Verizon’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, Family Medical Leave Act, Florida Workers’ Compensation, and resource management.
